As the Head of the American division of company laptops TOSHIBA Jeff Barney (Jeff Barney), it develops tablets in the same category as the iPad. A whole line of such devices will be released at the end of this – early next year. He was not told about them more specifically, it is not clear how the model will be called and what are their characteristics. Barney said only that the company intends to act quickly to get ahead of competitors. He also said that the earlier class of devices such as tablets, was erroneously underestimated. It is worth noting that at the end of last year in Europe came the mobile internet device (MID) Journe Touch 7-inch touch screen. It can be used to play media files and Internet surfing. Quite possibly, the new TOSHIBA tablets are similar to the device. Not yet clear is what operating system it decides to use, it is likely that this will be Windows 7, although in this case would require processors with architecture x86. Lots of style and power, awkward design Even for a desktop replacement laptop, a category filled with oversize eye-grabbers like the HP HDX18 and the Alienware m17, TOSHIBA's Qosmio X350-Q708 is an extrovert. A flaming red beast of a machine, the X350-Q708 packs a lot of cutting edge hardware, but some of the design decisions it incorporates are dubious. ...

Solid midrange performance This laptop, equipped with over 4GB of memory, will run all of your programs quickly (paired with a high-end CPU, that much memory will make things especially speedy). You'll be able to multitask to your heart's content, too, so go ahead--you can back up the entire contents of your hard drive to a DVD while watching YouTube videos and experimenting with textures on the 2MB photo of your client's art gallery in Photoshop. The main drawback is the extra expense: Loading up with more than the standard amount of RAM (2GB, these days) can add hundreds of dollars to a laptop's price, though it boosts performance by only about 10 percent. Also bear in mind that if you hope to use more than 4GB of RAM effectively, your PC must have a 64-bit installation of Windows. ...

For quite some time now, it seemed that smartbooks and netbooks were going to dominate the mobile computing industry but over the last little while, tablet computers have certainly made their presence known. It’s not to say that smartbooks/netbooks haven’t carved out their own niche, but with the likes of the Apple iPad on the horizon, major tech companies don’t want to be left out in the cold and TOSHIBA is one of them. Jeff Barney, TOSHIBA’s notebook lead confirmed that the computer maker plans on launching their line of tablet devices by the end of 2010 or no later then early 2011. The rationale provided was to have as early as possible an entry into this field of computing before powerhouses such as Apple dominate the niche with their iPad tablet. It has proved to be a mistake to underestimate these new categories,” he said. “And besides, we need new category creation to grow our industry. It’s worth noting that tablet computers are not new to TOSHIBA as they do have the Journe Touch which was launched in Europe late last year. However, it’s not likely that the Journe Touch will expand beyond Europe and the unit is looked at more as a mobile Internet device with a custom Windows CE operating system. In terms of the new line of tablets, details are few but they are highly likely to run on the Windows 7 operating system though Android tablets are not out of the question. The craze for tablet devices is expected to explode when the Apple iPad hits the market next month. TOSHIBA is gearing up some extra competition for the iPad . Company execs have announced that they will have their own line of tablet computers to launch by early 2011 at the latest. It seems like a day doesn’t go by where we don’t hear about a new tablet computer being developed. There were definitely plenty of naysayers, and there still are some who don’t believe the tablet will be taken seriously as an essential gadget. According to Fortune , TOSHIBA’s head of U.S. notebook business Jeff Barney says that ”it has proved to be a mistake to underestimate these new categories.” I’m sure there will still be opposition until we see enough of these devices on the shelves and in knapsacks. He also argues that the innovation and development of the tablet market is essential right now as “we need new category creation to grow our industry.” Apple will definitely not have the market cornered at this rate, especially as the Flash feature continues to be a source of debate between those at One Cupertino Drive and the rest of the tech world. Asus chairman Jonney Shih insists a tablet needs “an operating system that runs Adobe’s Flash” and that he can’t believe Apple left that out. TOSHIBA’s slate computers could even hit stores as early as the end of this year. That would certainly make the holiday shopping season more interesting. ...

Tablet computers are going to be one of the most popular gadgets this year, since the annoucement of the Apple iPad there certainly has been a lot more interest in tablets. Rumours of the TOSHIBA TG03 smartphone have been doing the rounds for almost a year now, but the smartphone has once again jumped into the spotlight with the news that it could be one of the first handsets to run Windows Phone 7 Series. With a huge screen a fast internals, it could be a great handset. To find out more about the TOSHIBA TG03, read on after the jump… We’ve seen quite a lot recently on the software side of Windows Phone 7 Series, but not a great deal has been mentioned about the hardware. Details of an LG handset have recently been leaked, but TOSHIBA could be in the position to release one of the first Windows Phone 7 Series with the introduction of the TOSHIBA TG03. Check out the latest smartphone deals The TOSHIBA TG03 follows on from the TOSHIBA TG02 and TOSHIBA TG01 – the first smartphone we saw to feature Qualcomm’s impressive 1GHz Snapdragon processor. The chip was largely ineffective in the TOSHIBA TG01, which featured the power-sapping Windows Mobile 6.1, but the same processor along with the more efficient Windows Phone 7 Series could prove a devastating combination. According to Electric Pig, the TOSHIBA TG03 will feature a large 4.1-inch touchscreen, but in this case it will fix some of the TOSHIBA TG01’s flaws, with a capacitive panel rather than the original unresponsive resistive display. Whether the TOSHIBA TG03 is truth or rumour remains to be seen, but with more and more Android-based smartphones comi ...
